When our good friends Icy Demons came out to DC to play a show at the legendary Black Cat we wanted to do something special. Unfortunately it was the night before the show and we only had about four hours. We thought there was an interesting/obvious connection between the strong syllables of the words “Icy Demons” and the letters “D” and “C”. We decided some sort of pictogram was in order. We quickly bootlegged/hijacked clip art from the internet. We struggled a bit with the final syllable and settled on a very cool Jamaican “mon” inspired by all of the Jamaican patties we had been eating since our move to DC. The final posters were printed 2-color on very low grade newsprint and distributed free at the show. We watched people struggle with the translation and knew Paul Rand would have been disgusted.
